Two employees gave chase to a robber and overwhelmed him before handing him over to authorities.
An armed robbery occurred on September 2 at Candy Land situated in Greenpoint Centre.
“A guy came into the store and told me he wanted smokes, I turned around to get them and when I turned back he held a knife at me and threatened me demanding money,” said Ms Saajitah Latib, Candy Land employee.
Latib explained to he robber that it was still early in the morning and that no money had been made, he then demanded she hand over her phone, which she did.
“He started running and pointed his knife at an old man that was entering the store, then he ran out around the back. Our packers chased after him and caught him behind the centre,” she said.

The robber was then handed over to police and a case of armed robbery was opened at the Witbank Police.
