Mweb SA National Championships at HTS Witbank

The Mweb SA National Championships was held recently at the Technical High School Witbank.

The Mweb SA National Championships was held recently at the Technical High School Witbank. Local players like Joline Bico, Morizane Boyes, and Lucille Brown among many others showed that eMalahleni eSports players are a force to be reckoned with.

The championship attracted players from the many provinces, and players battled it out to not only earn the title of South African Champion, but also to earn National Federation Colours and the right to fight for a place in the 2016 National Team Trials that will ultimately deliver a team to the eight World Championships.

The championship delivered a number of surprises in Counter Strike, FIFA, and Hearth Stone titles.
In Counter Strike, the newly formed White Rabbit Gaming team smashed the opposition. Only the St John’s team offered any sort of resistance as White Rabbit surged forward to take first place, and by winning all their games and earning national colours in the process.

In FIFA, it has been held for the past couple of years that Kyle Turnbull (an eMalahleni local) is without doubt the best player in South Africa. However a challenger emerged from Fairmont High School. Andrew Reeve held Kyle to a draw. The final position was thus decided on tie-break which Kyle won on goal average.
HearthStone too showed a new challenger coming to the fore. While Maryke Kennard stomped the competition in the female section, Brandon Horn waltzed home to take the title of South African champion and earn himself a position in the 2016 National Team Trials

Tuks Mind Sports won the League of Legends tournament. And to stir up some local pride as the HTS Club won many title such as Tekken, Street Fighter, and StarCraft 2 (female), as well as FIFA 15. Hoërskool General Hertzog (HGH) Club won the titles for OSU and Morabaraba both awarded to Lucille Brown.

“Thanks must be extended to MWEB, HTS Witbank, Morizane Boyes and the Mpumulanga Provincial Director, Mr. Louis Brown,” said Colin Webster.
