Tjhida Ngi TjhiduleNdebele group keeps children off the streets for 13 years

A community-driven cultural initiative in Klarinet Ext 3 provides a safe haven for local children while preserving heritage and steering the youth away from social ills.

For 13 years, without fail, the sound remained the same: Klarinet Ext 3’s Tjhida Ngi Tjhidule Ndebele Group, founded in 2013 by Gogo Jwana Mthimunye, continues to be a cultural haven for children.

“Our goal is to create a better future, but there are many obstacles in the way. We urgently appeal for help. We want to keep educating young minds about culture and respect through resilience,” said Mthimunye.

The struggle extends to shielding youth from societal pitfalls.

“I want to protect them from the shadows of alcohol, drugs, and teen pregnancy,” she added.

She envisions a future where these young people become professionals, educators, and pillars of society.
