A taxi was hijacked by two robbers pretending to be passengers.

The driver of a Toyota Quantum picked up three passengers on Voortrekker Road on March 26. There was apparently no other passengers in the taxi at the time when two more men were picked up shortly afterwards also in Voortrekker street.

Apparently the two unknown men immediately drew their weapons and forced the driver to the back of the taxi with the other passengers. The robbers drove about 20 kilometres out on the Verena Road where they let the driver out and commanded him to run into the bush and not look back.

He did so and after several minutes turned around to see that the taxi was gone. The victim apparently hitch-hiked back to town and opened a case with the Witbank SAPS.
