Robbers’ trick to hijack truck

Hijackers implement a variety of methods, tricks and schemes to steal your vehicle, but sometimes they go back to the old classic way of obstructing the road to catch their unsuspecting victims.

On Thursday, April 30 at around 18:00 a truck driver reportedly drove into a trap set up by hijackers next to the highway.
The driver told police he was near the N12 and Watermeyer Street off ramp when he was halted by a wooden log blocking his way.

The driver told police the following day, how he got out of the truck to move the log out of his way when two men suddenly appeared in front of him.
He alleged that one of the men was armed and that they forced him back in his truck where two others joined them. The four suspects took off with their victim and after a while stopped the truck to drop the driver in an unknown area.

Not knowing where he was, the driver wandered around looking for help until he was finally found by police, on a road near Heidelberg in Gauteng. The driver was brought to the police station in Boksburg where he reported the hijacking.

Police later recovered the stolen truck near Barberton. None of the suspects had yet been found.
