‘And the lights are still out’
Seems like all the street lights are glowing for some towns but unfortunately Ga-Nala is still one of them left in the dark.

Seems like all the street lights are glowing for some towns but unfortunately Ga-Nala is still one of them left in the dark.
In 2013 on July 17, News 24 published an article about residents wanting their town removed from Emalahleni’s local municipality.
The residents claimed that they were and still are the victims of extremely poor service from the municipality.
Three years later the residents still fight for their town.
Gerald van der Merwe, a resident of Ga-Nala went to the next level and made a video clip “Kriel at night”, shared it on all media platforms hoping for a change after numerous messages and complaints to the municipality.
“We don’t have any street lights at night. It is an invite for robbers and thieves,” said a resident, Corrie Brits.
Theo van Vuuren that was appointed administrator of the municipality in 2013 said, “Most of the problems in Ga-Nala should have been addressed earlier. However, we did not have vehicles, equipment and there was no communication,” he said in 2013.
Van Vuuren further quoted in the same time that the potholes and street lights in the area would be fixed within the current financial year (2014) while the sewage problems would be attended to “within a day of two”.
“Almost three years has passed and Mr van Vuuren was appointed from administrator to Emalahleni’s municipal manager but nothing has changed,” said another annoyed resident.
Van Vuuren did not comment nor replied on this query before time of print.
“Everyone in Ga-Nala complains about the non- working street lights so I made this short clip to let the people see how true it is,” Van der Merwe concluded.
