Yet another bump in the road

“It is sad that by not completing a job the good work of the municipality has been tarnished.”

A few months ago the municipality built speed bumps in various streets in Del Judor 4.
The speed bumps have been on the wish list for many local residents for a long time with a large school and several churches in the area.

The positivity was short lived however when several months passed without half the speed bumps being painted or signs being put up. This could potentially become an even greater danger for motorists as the unpainted bumps look the same as a repaired pothole.

Clive Hatch a Democratic Alliance (DA) representative who took the picture noted that locals have once again reached their limit on July 1.

“A motorist must have gone over one in Lisa Street without stopping. Residents woke up on Saturday morning to see that it had been sprayed with ‘f@#% paint me’ across the length of the speed bump,” Stated Hatch.

“It is sad that by not completing a job the good work of the municipality has been tarnished.”

A resident who has lived in the area for several years said that there are more than 10 speed bumps that are not painted,

“The first time I went over one it threw my kids out of their seats and I was going below the residential speed limit,” he said, “I can’t stand them.”

Clearly the Improvements are very difficult to see and quality of the improvements is well below standard. The municipality has been contacted however no response has been received.
