Staff members of Nkangala TVET College took to the streets complaining about certain issues.

Staff members of Nkangala TVET College took to the streets complaining about certain issues.
They marched in the city streets to hand over a memorandum to the management of the college on Thursday, September 1.

They said they were not satisfied with a number of issues that were handled and communicated to the staff at large and demanded transparency, compliance to applicable regulations and answers in the matters stated in the memorandum.

They said the recruitment of processes and appointments as pertaining to advertised post of college employees lack transparency and compliance, they also demanded fair labour practice and a thorough feedback.
They are also fed-up with acting positions and demanded appointments on all posts that were advertised and interviews to be conducted.

Where acting appointments takes place they demanded relevant policies and regulations be complied to without being compromised and all candidates who were unduly appointed into acting positions, must step down with immediate effect.

Contract lectures were to be absorbed, they demanded appointment letters that effect decisions. They said the centralisation of procurement function has led to poor service delivery on campuses. They demanded decentralisation of the procurement service.

They also wanted to know about the policy for registration of part time classes and they demanded to see the policy, as well as part time class’s pay date and contact hours.

They further demanded that old buildings should be renovated to be easily accessible,
that all employees across the college must be afforded with an equal access to resources.

Lastly they demanded the information contained in the moratorium that effects the supports staff replacement.
The memorandum was received by the college management and the staff members demanded a response not later than September 12.
