Mr Benny Moriri (40) was allegedly shot in the leg by the police. He said a second shot missed him.

“The police were shooting at people they found in the streets of Hlalanikahle without any provocations. Most of the people that were shot were not demonstrating at all, as most of them were shot inside their own yards. This must not be allowed to happen again. A man is now without an eye after he was shot while he was not even taking part in the demonstrations,” Mr Maseko said.

Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said he heard about the instances but nobody has come forward to open a case yet. His advice would be for people to open cases at Vosman Police Station and the cases would then be investigated.
