The entrepreneur’s day was held at the school on Friday, September 16 and the aim of the event is to encourage the pupils to save.
The event was organised by The StarSaver Aflatoun and was supported by African Bank

The StarSaver™ Aflatoun child social and financial education club is a platform to enhance the young person’s individual development through a holistic and integrated approach to life skills. At the centre of the clubs philosophy is the child-centred methodology encompassing financial and social education.

The club concept recognizes that developing children’s financial capability is important but it must be done within the context of their overall development which is crucial in building a better future and ultimately moulding better citizens.

The StarSaver™ Aflatoun clubs, provide the youth with the opportunity not only to learn but to put into practice all the elements they will be learning and give them a lifelong educational experience that leaves them with positive association with money and social change to influence their overall positive development as well as societal development.
“Through the clubs we offer the StarSaver™ programme to the learners, the StarSaver™ is a generic financial literacy programme located within the Economic Management Science (EMS) subject of the school curriculum, targeted at the grade 7, 8 and 9. The goal of the StarSaver™ programme being to teach children to save. As the StarSaver™ Programme we are working together with the following schools, F.H. Mkhabela Secondary School and Mapule Sindane Combine School have organised Entrepreneurs Day for the grade 7 learners,” read a statement from Ms Bongi Mtsweni StarSaver™ clubs coach
“This day will help our learners experience what it is like to own a business in order for them to know if it is the path they want to take as a career. entrepreneur’s day is also known as market day,” added Ms Mtsweni.
