Reports on social media about three men squatting in Extension 41 has caused quite the stir.
Ms Vanessa Middleton posted on Witbank Wall of Fame and Shame (Facebook) on October 14 warning the public that three white men had set up camp in the field along Amanda Street and that they were walking up and down Olga, Claudia and Amanda streets.

She went on to say that people should be careful and that it is obvious that these men are up to no good, and that she would put her head on the block that it is them who are responsible for the house burglary in Olga Street that took place on Thursday, October 13.
WITBANK NEWS visited the site and spoke with a pair of men who would walk through the field on a daily basis to collect scrap to turn it in at the scrap yard in Amanda Street. When questioned about anyone squatting in the open field the two men replied that they have not seen anyone squatting in the area in the past week, specifically no white guys.
“I own a home in Extension 41 and was in the area of over the weekend, I did not see anyone living in the field,” said Cllr Lizelle Steyn, Democratic Alliance.
In a response to the question on the exact whereabouts of the camp, Ms Middleton replied that she suspects someone has gone and burnt it down.
