A woman’s cries for help were heard and the community banded together to catch her assailant.

A woman’s cries for help were heard and the community banded together to catch her assailant.

On October 24 a woman and her friend were leaving a salon in Highland Mews when they were held at gunpoint and threatened with their lives.

“As I got into the car he grabbed the door at the driver’s side and told us to be quiet or he would kill us, he pointed the gun at me and my friend,” said the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous.

The woman recalls how the man remained calm throughout the entire ordeal, reminding them that their lives were at stake.

“We gave him our phones, he asked for the handbags and we told him they were in the back. He told us to get out and come to the boot,” she said.

She explained how her and her friend made their way to the back of the car to open the boot where the handbags were placed, the robber grabbed the handbags and demanded that she hand over the keys to the Jeep Cherokee.
She handed the robber the keys and in that moment let out a scream for help.

“The guy from the salon came running out along with the security guards, the CPF arrived and other community members,” she recalls how the community came together to give chase to the robber.

He headed toward the taxi ranks and was cornered at one of the houses in the area and arrested.

“He denied everything, he was then searched and my keys were retrieved but the phones were gone. He dropped the bags while running off,” the woman recalls.

“I just want to thank everyone that came forward to help us in our time of need, the community stood together,” said the woman.
