On Saturday November 5 at about 03:30, a murder took place in Ga-Nala.

A fight broke out between a 31-year-old man and his girlfriend and the fight allegedly ended in murder.

“The suspect allegedly hammered the woman on the head causing blunt trauma to the skull,” said Yster Shabangu, Kriel Police communications spokesperson.

She was rushed to Witbank Hospital for treatment to her wounds but passed away shortly after being admitted. The 31-year-old suspect was apprehended by police shortly after fleeing the scene and was taken into custody.

He was charged with murder and appeared before the Kriel Magistrate Court on Monday, November 7.

The case was postponed for November 14 for bail application and the suspect was returned into custody.
