Vehicle thieves feel right at home

In the last several months the thefts have escalated as thieves grow bolder.

As the year draws to a close the WITBANK NEWS continues to report on motor vehicle theft rarely going an issue without reporting on the matter. In the last several months the thefts have escalated as thieves grow bolder.

Cars that were stolen from locked garages and from right outside residential homes instead of hotspots like the Central Business District (CBD) has raised some eyebrows.

The most recent case occurred on December 13 when a man locked his motorbike behind a steal gate under a carport and went inside. The next morning after a good nights sleep he was shocked to find that not only was the padlock broken but the gate itself was also damage as the determined thieves tried to get to their target.

His motorbike was gone. The owner could not be reached for comment however Sgt David Ratau from the Witbank SAPS acknowledges that this is a problem
