After getting an emergency call about a robbery in progress armed response teams rushed to the scene and after a high speed chase and a near miss sent them running for the hills however no arrests were made.
An attempted robbery was reported by a night guard at a local business on the Bethal road, the armed response from Cyber Search was called to the scene as he was on duty in the Naauwpoort area.
The bullet damaged the security vehicle.
This occurred on December 16 at about 03:00 when the response unit Ernst du Preez arrived he was told that the three robbers ran into the bushes. He went to have a look and eventually caught wind of them as they were about to escape in a white Volkswagen GTI with tinted windows according to him. He immediately gave chase.
While in pursuit the robbers apparently attempted to shoot at him while driving but no shots connected with his vehicle. Eventually they pulled their vehicle off the road and started firing at Du Preez.

“They shot many times but just one shot hit my bakkie,” he said.
In the hail of gunfire the robbers managed to get away. However as long as guys like Ernst are on duty we can all feel a bit safer? It was a team effort as he called in back-up from his colleges who were on the scene in no time. A case of attempted murder was opened.
