A couple living in Coronation were beset by three men with the intent to rape the woman.

Earlier that evening the 32-year-old man was not feeling well and spoke with his wife, they decided to call an ambulance and later heard the sirens approaching the area.

They decided to leave the house at about 23:30 on January 4 and started to walk towards the sirens. The couple were some distance from the house when they paused and heard the sirens moving away from their direction.
They decided to turn around and walk back home when three men approached them, two of the men were armed with firearms while another was in possession of an axe.

One of the suspects drew his firearm and told the man to walk off into the darkness away from the housing, as he started to walk the suspect fired his firearm off in the direction of the man who was shot.

The three suspects took the man’s 31-year-old wife to the nearby bushes where they questioned her if she had HIV, she replied no, one of the men then raped the wife, and they just left her in the bushes.

The man sought help from a security guard stationed at the train station, he told him what happened and police were called to the scene along with an ambulance, the man was admitted to hospital only to be discharged on Thursday afternoon.

Police scouted the area for the woman and were able to get her to safety, they took her to the hospital where she was admitted and treated.
