Johnson Mduduzi Khubeka was arrested earlier this week after escaping from Witbank Correctional Services (Paxton) last year.
It was reported on August 5, 2016, that he escaped custody on July 28. He escaped with Vusimuzi Geraal Skosana, and an official’s car was found abandoned in a nearby ditch, shortly after the escape.

Constable Thapelo Malope told WITBANK NEWS that they have been following information and found him at Kwaggafontein at his friend’s house.
“She always visited him while he was serving his sentence for murder and robbery. He has been at Witbank Correctional Services since 2006. We found him today at around 14:00,” Const Malope said on Tuesday, January 24.
He appeared at Witbank Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 25.
