Outcome of liquor board meeting

Children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the liquor outlets.

Recently Vosman police, together with tavern owners, bottle store owners and officials from the municipality held a meeting in connection with liquor related issues.

It was explained by the police and officials from the municipality about the Mpumalanga Liquor Licensing Authority Act 5 of 2006 about:

*Selling liquor without a license is an offence in terms of Section 59 (1) (A). No person is allowed to sell liquor without a license.

*Drinking in public. No person is allowed to drink or consume liquor in the street in terms of Section 65 of Mpumalanga Liquor Act of 2006.

*Drinking of liquor outside the liquor premises amount to drinking in public.

*Sitting in a vehicle outside the liquor outlets and drinking liquor is drinking liquor in public.

Trading hours

*On consumption license open from 10:00 to 24:00

*Off consumption license open from 08:00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday. Sunday and public holidays from 10:00 to 17:00
Hi-jackings

*While driving from liquor outlets patrons are followed and hijacked on their driveways.

*Children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the liquor outlets.
