Nkangala State of the District Address (SoDA)

Executive mayor of Nkangala District Municipality, Councillor Linah Masellane Malatjie will deliver the state of the district address in Steve Tshwete.

With the theme: “Unity in action, towards radical socio economic freedom.”

The state of the district the address was delivered on Friday, July 28 by Cllr Malatjie from 09: 00 at the Sydney Choma Banquet Hall in Steve Tshwete.

In her address, the executive mayor will give account and reflect on the achievements and milestones made in 2016 and 2017 financial year. She will be outlining the plans and strategies to be employed moving forward in addressing the various challenges raised during the community out-reach, the IDP Indaba and other stakeholders.

Attention will also be given to the challenges of poverty, unemployment, inequality, ageing infrastructure and other related challenges, especially the shortage of water in some of our local municipalities in the district, which is constituted of Emakhazeni, Emalahleni, Steve Tshwete, Dr J. S. Moroka, Thembisile Hani and Victor Khanye.

In attendance was the speakers, council whips, the mayoral committee members, the executive mayors of the respective local municipalities and all other councillors. In addition there will be dignitaries from national and provincial governments, business representatives, multi-faiths, MRM structures, NG0’s and various stakeholders.
The SoDA will be broadcast live on Ikwekwezi FM, Ligwalagwala FM, Emalahleni FM, Greater Middelburg FM, Kangala Community Radio (KCRS FM) and Moutse Community Radio Station.

The State of the District Address (SoDA) has been preceded by the following service delivery events or programmes led by both the executive mayor and the speaker of council:

*Official handover of Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality Fire Station which was held on June 15 at Vaalbank.
*Graduation ceremony of EPWP learners which was held on July 14 at the mayor’s parlour.
*International Nelson Mandela Day activities held on July 18 at various local municipalities
*Delivery of school shoes in response to the collection of 1 000 000 pairs of school shoes.
Residents are advised to tune into their favourite radio stations to listen to the proceedings and live broadcast of the speech.
