Emalahleni mayor urges voters to cast ballots

Civic duty took centre stage in Vosman as local government special voting got under way across municipal wards.

Emalahleni Local Municipality Mayor Cllr Vusi Nhlapho joined residents who made their mark on the first day of special voting for the 2026 local government elections.

“I’m excited. I’m happy. I’ve demonstrated my democratic rights and my constitutional rights to vote for the party that I belong to,” said Nhlapho.

Nhlapho cast his ballot at the New 12th Apostle Church voting station in Vosman Ext 16.

He said he considered three things before voting: the country’s history, its present, and the future of his children and grandchildren.

“I therefore encourage every citizen of this city – all four hundred and thirty-four thousand people of this city who are eligible to vote – to come out in numbers and vote,” he said.

Special voting takes place on November 2 and 3, with voting stations open from 08:00 to 17:00. The official public voting takes place on November 4, from 07:00 to 21:00.
