On August 10 during a protest at Vosman at about 22:00, thieves broke into his shop. He said he phoned the police when he heard the first bang on his wall. Later they broke the steel door and the wall to gain entry into his shop.

Mohammed does not know how many people broke into his shop but he thinks’ there were many because they managed to steal stock estimated at R150 000 and they left the shop empty.

“I already had three break-in’s in my shop and four lootings in my shop and I have reported all the cases to the police. I do not know why they always target my shop. I always help in giving out when people ask to be helped. I have been in this area for 11 years and I have worked with the community of Vosman for all these years and I am now part of the community.”

Mr Mohammed explained that two other shops were reportedly broken-in to on the same night.

“They took everything that was inside the shop. The shop was fully stocked with goods and they cleaned the shop. I am lost for words, I have lost a lot during the past incidents and I am trying to make a living but some people are against my efforts to make a genuine living,” added Mr Mohammed.

Police are investigating a case of burglary and no one has been arrested.
