A motorist suffered serious injury after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle in the rain.

A motorist suffered serious injury after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle in the rain.

On Sunday, October 8 a red BMW and silver Volkswagen Jetta collided roughly 100 meters from the Olifants Bridge on the Old Middleburg Road.

The red BMW driven my Mr Kelvin Kgongwane, was travelling in the direction of Middelburg when Kgongwane allegedly lost control of his vehicle which resulted in his car spinning into oncoming traffic. The Jetta, driven by Mr AJ Esterhuizen then collided with the BMW hitting it on the driver’s side.

Kgongwane sustained an open fracture to his lower left leg as well as a deep laceration to his right ankle.

“We made use of the Jaws-of-life to extricate the driver from the vehicle who was then treated on scene for the fracture and laceration and then transported to ePH for further medical attention,” said Mr Dino Padayachee, Langamed Emergency Management Services.

Ms Valerie Shanahan, ePH hospital general manager commented that the patient admitted is in a stable condition.
