Some of them have now become victims of sickness because of the problem. The families said every time they report the matter at the council they only receive promises and once fixed it takes only a week or two and sewerage blocks again.

“We reported the matter to our councillor, Mpumi Maseko who promised that he will report at the council for the workers to come and fix the sewerage. More than five houses are affected by the sewerage and two of my young children have been to the doctor and I was told that they have been affected by the sewerage,” pointed out Mrs Moodley.
A neighbour said that she could not eat since the sewerage spill in her yard and they have been waiting for the workers to come and fix it.

Doors and windows have to stay closed to avoid the smell.
According to Mrs Moodley this has been going for a long time now and she feels that a long lasting solution needs to be found.
