The first case was reported at KwaGuqa in Extension 16 on Monday, February 5 at about 02:35. The police were on patrol in the area when they received a complaint of domestic violence.

They then drove to the scene and upon their arrival they found Thandeka Nkosi who was complaining about her boyfriend who was assaulting her for allegedly not cooking for him.

The victim further explained that the suspect threatened to kill her and asked her to pack all her stuff and leave. She went to the bedroom and retrieved four rounds of live ammunition and a gas gun then reported that it was the weapon that the suspect uses to threaten her. The 41 year-old boyfriend was traced and arrested.

Another case of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm was reported to the police. The police received information from a suspect who was detained for robbery that he was in possession of an illegal firearm.

The suspect, Lucky Nkomo was then booked out from the cells. The police drove with him to Extension 12 in Vosman and he showed them his room and directed the police to the gun. They found a 9 mm pistol with the serial number filed off with two live rounds of ammunition and he confirmed that it belonged to him.

The 24 year-old suspect was then charged for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
