Siyaba’ Twala Bonke – Helping the community in need

The reason for the name is because the founders believe that as a community they need to carry each other’s burdens.

The project was first called Isthabile Feeding Project and then it became Siyaba’ Twala Bonke and that’s the name that has stuck.

The project started on May 2, 2017 and they started feeding about 50 less unfortunate people and the number just increased.
Their mission and priority is to combat poverty and insuring that every child receives a balanced and healthy meal every day.

Some kids are on social grants but the current obstacle the organisers of Siyaba’ Twala Bonke is that the children’s parents spend and misuse those grants on things such as alcohol and gambling.

Most school dropouts leave school because of the difficult situations. These children normally don’t have enough food; they don’t have school uniforms, etc. therefore some turn to prostitution.


Waiting patiently for

The project is situated in an informal settlement called MNS. MNS has its own disadvantages such as; high rate of drug users, school drop outs, high rate of unemployment, prostitution, alcohol abuse and high rate of poverty and hunger.

At this current stage they feed about 300 children and 200 adults.
The feeding takes place on a Tuesday and on Saturdays.

“With the assistance from sponsors or anyone will to assist this is made possible to feed these needy people in the community,” said the founder Ms Khoza
