No TLC for Avril Street after two weeks.

It has been two weeks since Avril Street swallowed cars.

It has been two weeks since Avril Street swallowed cars. The barrier tape the municipality put around the gaping hole is hanging loosely and nothing has been done to the road.

What once was a road, is now an obstacle course. Water is still running down the road and patches of tar sticking out on the surface makes driving an impossible task.

On May 14, municipal spokesperson Mr Kingdom Mabuza said

“We have previously patched that area but owing to persistent water leaks, that area has been affected again. We have spoken to our water department to fix the leaks, and once that has been done, we will have to do a full reconstruction because of the extensive damage on the street. Our roads department has requested that a budget be set aside for reconstruction. Once there is approval and allocation of budget, we will start with the job.”


Avril Street is an obstacle course.

Homeowners are furious and demand that the municipality give attention to their street.
