At last the cattle that have been roaming the streets of Ben Fleur and Reyno Ridge have been relocated to the eMalahleni Nature Reserve.
On Tuesday, May 29, members from the South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) along with the SPCA and Law Enforcement managed to solve a problem that has been going on for much too long. For more than a year the cattle have been walking around Ben Fleur tearing garbage bags and destroying gardens as they go.

The team that managed to move the heard to the eMalahleni Nature Reserve.
“I am so glad we have found a way to put an end to this,” said Mr Stanley White, one of the members that helped to move the cattle.

They arranged with Law Enforcement to move the cattle to the SPCA where it would be safe and not harming anyone or anything. Unfortunately that couldn’t happen because it wouldn’t be possible for the heard to cross the N4 highway. Another plan had to be made and the suggestion of moving the cattle to the nature reserve came to light.

“This was a great suggestion; all we needed was a team that could help put that plan to work,” said Mr White.
The problem has now been solved and the cattle are safe and secure in the nature reserve.
“We all worked hard together to ensure the safety of both the cattle and road users, I am just glad this problem is solved,” concluded Maureen Scheepers SACCW responder.
