Cash-in-transit gets hit after six months of peace

On Monday, June 4, a silver in colour Mazda with allegedly two suspects targeted the newly built garage on the Bethal Road.

“After six months without a cash-in-transit heist in and around eMalahleni, they decided to strike again,” said spokesperson of the SAPS cash-in-transit department, Sonja Botha.

Witbank Police reached out to the community to assist them on finding the two suspects involved.

According to police a cash-in-transit vehicle stopped at the filling station to collect money from the weekend’s business when two men driving a silver Mazda stopped next to the cash van. One man approached the guard with the money box as he was coming from the quick shop.


Cash-in-transit took place at a garage on the old Bethal Road. The cross pavement heist occurred on Monday, June 4.

The suspect pointed him with a firearm, dispossessed his firearm and the money box before returning to their vehicle, where after they fled the scene.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in tracing and arresting the suspects to contact Sergeant Ella Mohlala at 079 265 4912 or the SAPS Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.
