The case involving the two Shabane children has been postponed for further investigations.
Executive mayor Cllr Linah Malatjie and former mayor Ms Lindiwe Ntshalitshala were present at the court to give the Shabane family support.
Senior public prosecutor Mr Fannie Mavumdla explained that the state need more time to further investigate the case and still waiting for outstanding DNA results. The case involving Gabsile Shabane (13) and her cousin Nkosikhona Ngwenya (15 months) happened in January this year when they were kidnapped at their home in Hlalanikahle and later found dead. The four accused: Thokozane Msibi (32), Brilliant Mkhize (26), Knowledge Mhlanga (22) and Themba Thubane appeared on Friday, June 1.
Mr Mavundla further revealed that the DNA test of the young Nkosikhona and that of the head of Gabsile have been completed except for the body of Gabsile which are still outstanding. It was believed that because it was alleged that Gabsile was forced to drink a mixture of brake fluid and alcohol; that might be the cause of the delay in the results.

Another delay was caused by one of the accused Mfanasibili Gamedze who is in custody in Swaziland and still in the process of getting his extradition papers in order.

The state also announced that the police has made significant progress on the case and only a few loose ends needs to be joined and the trial will then start.
