On Monday, June 11, a group of residents gathered at all the Transnet entrances.

They burned tyres, danced and sang in an attempt to get Transnet’s attention.

“We are angry because they don’t employ us, they employ people from other places,” said one of the protestors.

The protestors claimed that Transnet is allegedly employing people not from here.

The Transnet office in eMalahleni could not be reached before the time of going to print but the WITBANK NEWS managed to get a hold of the spokesperson from Transnet Head Office.

“We are not currently aware of the allegations made against Transnet but we are going to investigate into the matter,” stated the Transnet Head Office spokesperson.
