A warning was posted on social platforms, warning road users to still be on the lookout for big rocks being placed in the road to cause accidents.

“If you are travelling on the N4 highway coming from either Nelspruit or from Pretoria, anywhere between Witbank and Vosman, please be careful and watch out for big rocks being placed in the road,” the message stated.

It is alleged that the purpose of this happening is that a certain group of breakdown trucks place the rocks to gain a tow.

In a course of seven days more than four incidents were reported by Vosman Police Station and on the N4 highway.

“Clients have identified the tow trucks as a green Isuzu tow truck and a white double cab tow truck, whereby two Volkswagens is involved,” the message also stated.

Witbank CPF (Community Policing Forum) along with individuals is patrolling in and around eMalahleni to spot the suspects.

“Road users should keep by the speed limit and be cautious of any objects in the road. If anyone spots something suspicious like mentioned, they should immediately contact SAPS on 013 655 5052,” spokesperson of Witbank Police Station, Sgt David Ratau concluded.
