*UPDATE*
Preparations are currently underway to move a similar transformer from Klarinet substation to Kriel substation to replace the damaged transformer.
The 10MVA at Kriel substation caught fire and burned on August 16.
“The cause of the damage is not yet known and will only be established once the unit has been stripped and assessed,” said Mr Kingdom Mabuza, municipal spokesperson.
The expected time of restoration is today at 22:00, pending any unforeseen circumstances which will cause delays and prolong the restoration.
The damage to the transformer that blew up in Ga-Nala yesterday can not be determined yet.
“We cannot speculate on the cause as yet as it will require a strip and quote to determine the cause,” Mr Kingdom Mabuza, municipal spokesperson said.
Mabuza said technicians are on site.
