
Drug-related stories are a weekly reported issue. More arrests were made in this regard, with one arrest on August 26 and two on August 25.
It was reported by police that a man suddenly changed direction when he spotted the police vehicle. This suspect behaviour led to police searching the man and they found 20 small plastic bags containing plant material, suspected to be dagga.
Four small black plastics were found, containing crystal stones and three more with a white powder suspected to be drugs.
On August 25 information was received of a man allegedly selling dagga at Spring Valley, and police set out to the address received.
They knocked on the door and a man responded and gave permission to search his house. Police found 26 transparent bags, containing dagga.
Another arrest was made here, after police received a complaint about someone selling dagga. In the suspect’s right pocket, police found two pokes of dagga and after a closer search, 22 pokes of dagga was found.
The suspect said that he is not working and is selling dagga for survival.
More arrests were made during last week, for the possession of drugs.

On August 23, three arrests were made. Around 11:00 police were patrolling and a call was received about someone dealing in drugs in Van Deventer Street. A man was searched and eight pokes of drugs were found in his jean’s pocket.
In the same area, another man was selling drugs and apprehended by police.
Later that afternoon police arrested another person while on patrol. The officer approached a man in a park and found drugs in his possession. He said that he is selling the drugs.
Three more suspects were apprehended on August 22. A man was roaming around one place in Van Deventer Street and moved when he spotted the police vehicle. He was stopped and seven pokes of dagga were found in his possession.
Around 10:30 on the same day another man was arrested in Allenby Street during a patrol. The officer said that she saw a suspicious-looking man and searched him. Drugs were found in his possession with a street value of R2 000.
In Mandela Street around the same time another suspect was apprehended when police spotted drugs in his possession. The street value is close to R900.
