
Consumers can put the candles away for now as Eskom will not be switching the lights off this Christmas.
It is not because Eskom is in a festive mood; on the contrary they are still fuming because Emalahleni’s debt is growing by the day.
The municipality owes Eskom R2-billion.

The case to decide whether Eskom can cut the electricity supply to the municipality has been postponed.
“The handing down of judgment for the above matter has been cancelled, parties will further be informed with the new date,” was the word from the Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa.
For now the Christmas lights in Emalahleni will keep on burning until Judge Wendy Hughes makes her decision.
