Cyprian ‘Mahala’ Maimane honoured
Maimane was recently honoured during a tournament played at the Lynnville Stadium on Sunday, December 30.
Maimane, a goalkeeper with Witbank Black Aces during his hey days played a huge role in the success of the team.
Maimane was recently honoured during a tournament played at the Lynnville Stadium on Sunday, December 30.

The team was well known all over the country and the neighbouring countries because of players like Maimane, Thomas ‘Junior’ Ngobe, Alfred ‘Russia’ Masina, the late Steve ‘Disco’ Makua, the late Steve Maseko and the late Slow Masuku, Lawrence ‘Sister Monica’ Siyabonga, Percy ‘Mathousand’ Nxumalo, Joseph ‘Danger’ Sibiya and many others.
The team won the BP Top Eight Cup in 1980, the Bob Save Super Bowl in 1993 and they were the Mainstay Cup finalists in 1980.

Maimane was very instrumental in the success of the team.
He was at one time selected to represent the country and played in the SA Black XI.
He was also the goalkeeper coach for the national team, Bafana-Bafana at some stage.

Mr Leslie Ntuli said they were very proud of Maimane for the role he played in putting eMalahleni on the world map and they would like to show their appreciation and honour while he is still alive.
Maimane was listed as one of the great goalkeepers in the country.
