A female kudu was hit and killed on the N12 highway after trying to cross the road.
On Tuesday, January 29 a female kudu managed to dodge a truck but her luck ran out when a small bakkie smashed into her.
“I am still in shock, it all happened so fast. I can just remember seeing this buck on my windscreen,” explained the driver of the bakkie, Mr Richman Lukhele.
He was on his way to work when the incident occurred.
Langamed emergency services attended to the scene and miraculously Mr Lukhele obtained no injuries.
Tow truck services also made their way to the scene and removed the kudu from the road.
“I am going to get this kudu slaughtered, meat is expensive,” one of the tow truck drivers exclaimed jokingly.
It is alleged by a man on scene that the kudu was coming from the area near the mine and that many wildlife are fleeing due to the blasting.
It is not the first time that a kudu had become road kill on this highway.
