A golf day is on the cards to raise funds for a former resident from eMalahleni.
On Friday, July 19 a golf day will be hosted at Witbank Golf Club towards a former resident, Anton Nortje, struggling with brain cancer.
“Anton grew up in the old Witbank where his first setback came in 1983 during his matric year when he started to struggle with cancer of the glands. In recent years Anton had to go through several painful events, with the last one the loss of his daughter in a terrible accident. The biggest blow came in 2018 when he had a stroke and doctors had to discover that there was a tumour on the brain,” said Charl Basson, a friend of Anton’s.
Recently Anton had to undergo surgery at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital to remove 85% of the tumor.
Anton (53) is on his way to recovery and rehabilitation will cost in the region of R400 000.
Anton was self-employed and lost significant income in recent months.
The reason for the golf day is to assist the family in this difficult time.
The following options are available to support the golf day: Sponsor a hole for R2 000 or R1 500, sponsor a prize or a hamper.
The sponsors of holes will be allowed to bring their own branding to the hole they sponsor and entertain the golfers as they make their way on the course.
For an additional R1 000 you can enter four clients for the day.
The format is a scramble drive-betterball with a shotgun start at 11:00.
Entry fee is R250 per golfer.
