Netball star chosen for SA national squad

The purpose of the trials was to identify a squad for the South African National under 21 teams.

During the winter holiday two under 18 netball stars from Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog were identified as part of a selection of players from Mpumalanga to play further trials for the national team.

Hope Sibiya and Judy Mojela were among the 35 best netball players in Mpumalanga to play trials at the University of Johannesburg from 11 to 14 July 2019.

The purpose of the trials was to identify a squad for the South African National under 21 teams.

Hope Sibiya, a matric learner at HGH, together with Aneska Smith from Piet Retief were the only two girls from Mpumalanga to be chosen for the under 21 High Performance training squad of 31 players.

These players will play another series of trials to determine the A and B teams.

Hope has been a learner at Hoërskool Generaal Hertzog since grade 8 and she is also the Deputy Head Girl of Sport at the school.
