Barricading is used for a reason

All this just because someone thought it would be better to take off the barricading around the pipe that was repaired

While the roads of eMalahleni is not in tip top condition, a pipe burst will leave such a road more damaged.

On July 14 a complaint came through that a pipe just burst in Harlekyn Street.

The municipality went out and started the procedure to fix the problem but with the road being in such bad condition, the whole road was in a bad condition with mud everywhere.

The municipal workers worked through the night of July 14 and barricaded the sensitive area before leaving the scene.

On July 15 a taxi got stuck in that exact road because of all the mud, hours after the first vehicle were towed out, the second vehicle got stuck.

All this just because someone thought it would be better to take off the barricading around the pipe that was repaired.

“The barricading was put up for a reason, so the soil could dry up, but it is no excuse as for our roads that is in such bad condition,” nearby resident Mr Benjie Beukes concluded.
