Eugene needs your help, don’t you need a boerie-roll?

These scrumptious, juicy boerie-rolls will be on sale for R25 from 11:00 till 15:00 on Saturday, July 27

Eugene, a grade 9 pupil of HTS Witbank, is critically ill – and his community has rallied together to get him well again.

Eugene’s medical bills, up until this point, have largely been covered by donors and the Del Judor 4 Residents Forum.

Last week, the HTS pupil lost a considerable amount of blood after his intestines starting bleeding due to ulcerative colitis.

Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes long-lasting inflammation and ulcers (sores) in your digestive tract.

Ulcerative colitis can be debilitating – sometimes leading to life-threatening complications.

Unfortunately, the colitis spread into Eugene’s mouth; leaving him unable to eat or drink.

Within a few hours, Eugene had become dehydrated, despite having already seen the doctor.

He remained unable to keep any food or water down, and was subsequently rushed to Life Cosmos’s Trauma / Emergency Unit where his pulse was found to be extremely high, whilst his breathing was quick and shallow.

Eugene was stabilised at Life Cosmos’s Trauma / Emergency Unit, where he immediately received an emergency unit of blood and was admitted to the hospital.

After putting up quite a fight to regain some of his health, Eugene returned home on July 21 – but a new challenge faces him and his community; he needs to see a gastroenterologist and receive a scope so that a treatment program can be specialized to his needs.

On Saturday, July 27, the Del Judor Extension 4 South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) – as well as Eugene’s close-knit community – will be selling boerewors rolls at the Portuguese Club in Nita Street in order to raise funds to pay for his medical bills.

These scrumptious, juicy boerie-rolls will be on sale for R25 from 11:00 till 15:00 on Saturday, July 27.

If you’d like more information on the boerewors roll sale, or would like to place a large order in advance, you are welcome to contact Paul Manarte on 083 259 3176 or Stanley White on 079 502 2315.
