SAVF Wonderland Daycare walks away with national fund raising accolade

SAVF Wonderland Daycare is the overall winner of Tekkie Tax 2019.
Walking away with the top award, SAVF Witbank Daycare principal, Ms Lana Pienaar and her team were overwhelmed with their accomplishments.
The total monetary value of their contribution to the campaign during 2019 was R456 200.
Taking in consideration that the team only became part of this national fundraising campaign in 2018, it is evident that it took a lot of enthusiasm, hard work and dedication from the daycare’s management, teachers and volunteers to get this campaign from the ground.
“Without the support of the community, schools and businesses this would not have been possible, we thank each and every individual, school and business in eMalahleni for supporting this campaign. This is really a campaign close to our hearts to raise money for so many organizations of which SAVF is one,” Ms Pienaar said.
During 2018 money raised were R135 972 nationally and 2019 saw an overall increase of 236%.
A total of 8 117 stickers, 2 320 Hickies (shoelaces) and 3 114 T-shirts was sold during this campaign, and then there were also badges, beanies and tattoos.
Happy the Tekkie Tax Mascot visited a lot of places during 2019 and made a lot of new friends.
Tekkie Tax has become a household name over the past seven years.
This year, international Tekkie Tax Day will be celebrated on Friday, May 29 and you have to make sure that you are ready to make the circle bigger.
“We would hereby like to invite your school or business to take part in the 2020 campaign. Just confirm that you are going to help make the circle bigger and we will do the rest. SAVF will supply you with order forms and help with all administrative duties regarding this campaign. Let your learners wear their T-shirts on May 29,” Ms Pienaar said.
Tekkie Tax is fast becoming South Africa’s most significant fundraising campaign for more than 300 local welfare organisations.
The campaign is fun, funky, trendy, innovative, unique and successful.
The campaign started off in 2013 and since its inception, Tekkie Tax has already raised almost R40 million.
There are currently 12 national alliance partners and they represent more than 1 500 local non-profit organisations.
