Is your municipal account a mess?
Incorrectly calculated municipal accounts or accounts that are suddenly much higher than previous months are nothing strange in Emalahleni.
The dire state of the municipal financial status has been in the news for much of last year.
The municipality has been shifting the blame on consumers who are not paying for their municipal services.
Most residents ascribe their non-payment attitude towards the municipality’s inability to provide reasonable service while the municipality attributes their lapses in service provision to the inability of residents to pay for the services consumed.
According to the Municipal Systems Act municipalities must provide regular and accurate accounts to customers.
In this sense, Emalahleni Local Municipality fails horribly.
