[REMINDER] Water supply interruption with planned power outage

The planned power outage will have an impact on the pumping of raw water from the Witbank Dam to the Water Treatment plant and the pumping of potable water between 08:00 and 20:00.

As eMalahleni residents already know about the planned power outage by Eskom, the municipality just wants to remind our residents that there will be water outages along with the power outages.

On January 25, Eskom will carry out maintenance at Doornpoort Substation which will affect the water network.

The Water Department will also carry out maintenance work at Point D Command Reservoir and at Point B-C.

The planned power outage will have an impact on the pumping of raw water from the Witbank Dam to the Water Treatment plant and the pumping of potable water between 08:00 and 20:00.

The Water Department will carry out the following maintenance:

•Attend to a leak at Point D command reservoir
•Repair a major leak at the Witbank Dam pump station
•Nkangala District Municipality will be installing isolations valves at several points on the network

All areas are anticipated to be affected.

“We therefore, advise the community and the businesses to fill up onsite water storage facilities during this period and use water sparingly during this period. Water tankers will only be available at strategic areas such as schools, clinics, hospitals and police stations.”

Water supply to all areas is expected to normalise by January 28.

“Consumers are kindly requested to utilise water sparingly during this time whilst the municipality is trying to stabilise the system. Consumers are kindly requested not to utilise water from their geysers during the period of no water as this may cause problems with the geyser when the water supply is restored.”
