Patrice wins TinMan Triathlon in preparation for full IronMan

Patrice who is over 50-years-old managed to win the TinMan Triathlon, age is just a number

One of South Africa’s oldest draft legal Triathlon Series’, the TinMan Series was held in Johannesburg over the weekend. 

Standing on the podium on Sunday, March 13 after winning the TinMan Triathlon, was Adriaan Wooding (second), Patrice Gautier (first) and Corne Lotz (third).

Local athlete Patrice Gautier (53) finished in a time of 01:5:12 and averaged 22.72km/h, he was over the moon to end the race with the finish banner in his hands. 

The series took place on Sunday, March 13 at Buffelspoort Dam.

It was a day for the whole family to get out and to take part in the Tri-Series.

The series that was started in 1999 has become very popular nationally and a household name to many athletes. 

Patrice, who took part in the 1.2km swim, 30km cycle and 10km run, used this race as a dress rehearsal for his full IronMan participation. 

“I had a good swim and then it was the transition onto my bicycle. I had a good cycle and then it was the run,” said Patrice. 

Many athletes from eMalahleni will be taking part in the full IronMan and half IronMan on Sunday, April 3.
