Timara does not only splash, but makes waves
Timara swam in six events, where she swam six personal best times and reached two finals.
Swimming is not only her passion, but it has become her life and her way of life.
Timara Froneman was born in 2007 in Wilgers Hospital in Pretoria.
She was a busy little girl and at that stage, her parents did not know what life had installed for her.

Timara has been in Cambridge Academy since she was two-years-old and is currently in Grade 9.
She started swimming when she was nine-years-old.
Her current coach is Chad Peterson at the Virgin Gym in Middelburg.
Timara’s main stroke was backstroke, over the years it has changed.

“Currently my main stroke is Individual Medley (IM), although I love Freestyle,” said Timara.
Timara swims between two and three hours a day for six days a week.
“Swimming is hard work, but at the end of the day, it’s just you and the water. And for me it’s a life-changing experience,” said Timara.
She was chosen to participate in the SA Schools from March 26 to 28 at Hillcrest Pool in Pretoria.
“I narrowly missed gold and got silver for 100m Freestyle as well as three fourth places,” said Timara.
Timara qualified to represent Mpumalanga in the nationals in Port Elizabeth where all the seniors and juniors participated with all the Common Wealth Countries.

In the 200m freestyle she came seventh (final), 100m freestyle seventh place (final), 200m IM 12th, 200m backstroke 12th, 100m backstroke 16th and 50m freestyle 12th.
Timara just arrived home from Lusaka (Zambia) where she has been representing South Africa at the Cana Zone IV Swimming Championships.
“It is a huge achievement to qualify for Nationals and to represent South Africa in Zambia.”
She competed in eight events and received the following results: 50m freestyle second place, 100m freestyle first place, 200m freestyle first place, 100m backstroke first place, 200m backstroke first place, 200m IM first place, 50m butterfly third place and 100m butterfly second place.
Four relays where she achieved two silver medals and two bronze medals.
“I used to stress a lot before a race, now I just keep calm and focus. I dive into the water and do what I have to do,” said Timara.
Timara was announced as the best u.13/14 female swimmer in Zambia.
“My dream is to go to the Olympics. Swimming is my absolute passion and it is a life-changing experience. I am completely in my element when I am in the water,” said Timara.
