Truck filled with love for the people in KwaZulu-Natal
Donations sent down to KwaZulu-Natal from the Methodist Churches in the area.
As the Coalfields Circuit 1106 (Methodist Churches around the area of Emalahleni, Ekangala, Zithobeni and Bronkhorstspruit), they were deeply moved and challenged by the disaster that has led to the loss of human life, homes, infrastructure, all forms of materialistic things, human dignity, joy, hope, peace and shelter in KwaZulu-Natal as a result of the floods that swept away everything for most people, where over 400 people have died, everything almost collapsed.
“We were deeply moved and challenged by this unbearable pain and suffering, our people are subjected to, we responded to the call with great compassion, love, generosity as Coalfields Circuit 1106, a call was extended to us to make considerable giving towards this disaster,” said Rev Phezile Koekoe, the Superintendent Minister.
On Monday, April 25 the Circuit Mission Coordinator together with circuit leadership, Methodist people in the circuit, gathered together at Witbank Methodist Church and Bronkhorstspruit Methodist Church to package the gifts of love that were given by Methodist people in the circuit.
The church received the following donations: clothes, blankets, toiletries, sanitary towels, food and water.
People gathered together to package these gifts prayerfully, and a truck was loaded with these gifts of love; they were delivered to the district office in Pretoria.
The truck moved from Witbank Methodist Church to Bronkhorstspruit Methodist Church.
These gifts were warmly welcomed by the District Bishop Sidwell Mokgothu of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa.
“We continue to hold in prayer the communities in KwaZulu-Natal, Port St Johns in Eastern Cape, Kwalanga in Cape Town. We don’t send these gifts only, but we accompany these gifts with our prayers. We are convinced we are called by God to heal the wounded people and sustain hope to the hopeless people,” said Bishop Sidwell Mokgothu.
