Witbank General Hospital will be transferring some patients to various other hospitals

Staff from Witbank General Hospital will continue to attend to emergencies

The Mpumalanga Department of Health has issued a notice to the public that it will be transferring some of the patients from its Witbank General Hospital due to renovations.

Some patients will be transferred to Middelburg and Impungwe hospitals from Thursday, April 28 and  on May 4.

Patients from Medical wards 3  and 8 were transferred to Impungwe Hospital in Wolvekrans on Thursday, April 28  while on May 4, ward 19 Orthopaedic male patients will be transferred to Middelburg Hospital.

The renovations followed the visit by the Mpumalanga MEC for Health in the province, Ms Sasekani Manzini on April 2020 to Witbank Hospital to assess structural challenges at the health facility and monitored the provision of healthcare services.

Witbank hospital management says the hospital will continue to attend to emergency and out-patients from clinics.

Patients will be sent for admissions in the mentioned hospital while Witbank hospital says it will inform families of the affected patients.

The hospital has requested public support and has apologized for the inconvenience.
