Electrical engineering students geared up as they receive new laptops from local business
A local business recognised a gap in TUT’s Department of Electrical Engineering at the eMalahleni campus and filled it with laptops for 20 students.
A construction company donated 20 laptops and other computer accessories in the form of a bursary to 20 students from the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE), eMalahleni Campus.
The presentation of the computers to the students took place on May 5 at the TUT eMalahleni campus.
In his speech, Mr Sam Mashilwane, the human resources manager of the company, said the gift of computers is to support and contribute to the learning of the electrical engineering students from the Nkangala District Municipality.

He added that the event is the beginning of collaboration and relationship between the company and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tshwane University of Technology, eMalahleni campus.
Dr Bolanle Abe advised the awardees to take advantage of the opportunity to pursue their academic goals.

Also in attendance was the campus rector, represented by Dr Thuli Ngonyama-Ndou, Mr Dennis Malanga, the central student representative council members, the Head of Library Services, Ms Jacomi Cathro and staff members of the Department of Electrical Engineering, eMalahleni Campus.
Mr Philip Tshubwana, the DEE eMalahleni industrial contact person, thanked the company for the good initiative.
