Three people arrested on N4 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition

The suspects were stopped by SAPS.

Following a stop and search on Saturday, May 21 police apprehended three suspects, who were allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

According to police, the three men were arrested after the police stopped the white Toyota Conquest on the N4 highway requesting to search the suspects, but they didn’t find anything and went to search the car, where they discovered a jacket containing a 9mm firearm and a magazine with seven rounds of live ammunition.

The suspects are facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“The firearm will be sent to forensic ballistics to determine the ownership and the possibility of this firearm being linked to other crimes,” said police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall.
