Policing forum aims to restore cohesion in Phola

Crime days are over as a new CPF group has been formed in Phola.

The never-ending crime in Phola will soon meet its match as a new Community Policing Forum (CPF) group has been formed for the community.

The new group was launched and introduced to stakeholders in the community in April and has had many successful, crime-busting stories including assisting in arrests of unlicensed firearms.

The forum held its first monthly meeting on May 19 at Phola Police Station.

The acting station commander of the station, Captain Jan Kamfer introduced the new structure which is led by Mr Mlungisi Nkonde (chairperson).

Sergeant Pertos Ntuli who is the crime prevention and communications officer said that the stakeholders that had attended were people and organisations that are actively involved in helping the SAPS of the community to fight crime.

“The stakeholders that had attended include: Chief Sipho Mahlangu from Ndzundza Sogutjhe Traditional house, FOVOC social workers, CMR social workers, Khulisa COGTA representatives, Twin Security, Siyakhanyisa Community Holdings representatives, and the Phola Traditional Healers forum,” added Sergeant Ntuli.

Vispol Support Commander, Warrant Officer Thokozani Masuku motivated the CPF to continue with the outstanding work that they have done. The next CPF meeting will be held on June 9.
